Data Sharing & Reproducibility
Jurnal Edukasi Citra Olahraga (JECO) is committed to promoting transparent, rigorous, and reproducible research in teaching, learning, and human development at all educational levels, in line with the Core Practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The availability of research data, together with clear descriptions of research methods, educational settings, participant characteristics, instruments, instructional materials, and analytical procedures, supports verification, collaboration, and responsible reuse. Authors bear the primary responsibility for providing sufficient detail to enable other researchers to understand, assess, and, where appropriate, attempt to reproduce or replicate their work.
The journal strongly encourages authors to make the materials underlying their research publicly available whenever ethically and legally permissible. All submitted research articles must include a Data Availability Statement explaining how and where supporting data can be accessed, whether through a recognized repository, supplementary materials, or requests under clearly defined conditions. Restrictions arising from participant confidentiality, informed consent, institutional agreements, intellectual property, or other ethical and legal considerations must be explained in the statement. Particular care must be taken to protect children, learners, educators, and other research participants by preventing the disclosure of identifiable or sensitive information. Exceptions and embargoes will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Shared data and research materials should be well-organized, adequately documented, and provided in commonly used, preferably open formats. These materials may include anonymized datasets, assessment instruments, questionnaires, interview guides, coding frameworks, curriculum resources, instructional interventions, and, where applicable, code and software used in digital learning research or data analysis. Authors are encouraged to use trusted repositories that support long-term preservation and assign persistent identifiers, such as DOIs. Documentation should explain data structures, variables, units, scoring procedures, and relevant contextual information, while code and software should include dependencies, versions, and instructions for use. Datasets, instruments, code, software, and other research resources used or generated in the study must be appropriately cited, where applicable, in the manuscript and reference list.
Authors are encouraged to follow reporting guidelines relevant to their study design and, where applicable, preregister their research to strengthen transparency. Reporting should provide sufficient detail about educational contexts, participant recruitment, instructional practices, intervention duration, assessment procedures, and analytical approaches. For qualitative research, authors should clearly describe data collection, interpretation, researcher reflexivity, and procedures used to support trustworthiness. Editors may request additional materials that support methodological transparency and reproducibility, including research protocols, instructional resources, coding documentation, computational notebooks, or analytical scripts. Authors are expected to retain original data and related documentation for a reasonable period after publication, such as 5–10 years or according to institutional and funder requirements, and provide access upon reasonable request, subject to applicable restrictions.
Peer reviewers will be encouraged to assess the clarity of the Data Availability Statement and the adequacy of the reported methods and supporting materials, taking into account the study design and educational context. Where feasible and ethically appropriate, reviewers may also examine shared data and research materials. Concerns raised after publication regarding data availability, integrity, interpretation, or reproducibility will be investigated following COPE guidelines and may result in a correction, expression of concern, or retraction. Through these practices, Jurnal Edukasi Citra Olahraga (JECO) seeks to strengthen the credibility, quality, and impact of research on instructional innovation, cognitive, emotional, and social development, curriculum and assessment, educator professional growth, educational technology, inclusive and value-based education, and learning across childhood, adolescence, and adulthood.
