PERAN KEGIATAN EKSTRAKURIKULER MARCHING BAND DALAM MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN BERMAIN MUSIK ANSAMBEL SISWA SEKOLAH MENENGAH PERTAMA

Kegiatan ekstrakurikuler berperan penting dalam mendukung pengembangan potensi siswa, termasuk kemampuan musikal dan pembentukan karakter. Salah satu bentuknya adalah marching band, yang memadukan permainan musik, gerak, disiplin, dan kerja sama. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis peran kegiatan ekstrakurikuler marching band dalam meningkatkan kemampuan bermain musik ansambel siswa di SMPS Slamet Riady Soa. Penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Subjek penelitian meliputi siswa anggota marching band, pelatih, dan guru musik, yang dipilih secara purposive. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, lalu dianalisis menggunakan model Miles dan Huberman dengan triangulasi sumber dan teknik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan marching band dilaksanakan secara terstruktur dan rutin serta berkontribusi pada peningkatan kemampuan menjaga tempo, kekompakan, keseimbangan bunyi, koordinasi gerak dan musik, serta kepercayaan diri siswa. Kegiatan ini memberi pengalaman musikal kolektif bagi siswa. Kesimpulannya, ekstrakurikuler marching band berperan signifikan sebagai sarana pembelajaran musik ansambel dan pembentukan sikap disiplin, tanggung jawab, serta kerja sama.
